J Street A Danger?

by Rabbi David Eliezrie

Debate on the peace process is good (“J Street Facing Stiff Challenges Amid Rise,” Oct. 16). However bad ideas are more dangerous. The withdrawal from Lebanon and Gaza has created two terrorist-controlled mini-states on Israel’s borders.

While J Street may truly care about Israel, its approach is deeply flawed and will endanger the security of the Jewish people.

It is championing the use of American political power to impose a settlement on Israel. Its audacity to use pressure from outside forces to impose its view on Israel is political totalitarianism. It’s clear from the recent Israeli election that Israel voters reject this approach of concessions.

J Street’s efforts to impose its will from the outside denies Israelis their basic right to control their destiny. This approach should be rejected by all responsible Jewish leaders.
