36 Under 36 2009: Bram Weber, 33

by Tamar Snyder

For years, Bram Weber amazed people when he disclosed that he — an active AIPAC Young Leadership board member and passionate pro-Israel advocate— had never been to Israel. That changed in 2005, when Weber and his then-girlfriend, now wife Aimee, visited Israel for the first time. "She organized the entire trip," he says. "It was the most unbelievable experience."

In April 2007, Weber returned to Israel — this time with the UJA-Federation of New York, where he serves as vice chairman of UJA-Federation’s Real Estate Executives (REX) Division, and will assume the chair in the fall. Highlights of the trip included touring the gleaming skyscrapers in Tel Aviv, visiting the Schneider Children’s Medical Center, and meeting with a local architect in Jaffa and

learning about the development and approval process for buildings in Israel.

AIPAC, Weber says, "satisfied my desire to do things to promote the U.S.-Israel relationship." But Weber’s public service extends beyond politics. As co-founder and partner of Weber Law Group in Melville, L.I., a commercial real estate firm with a focus on zoning and land use, he provides pro-bono legal services, and he is on the board of the Martin C. Barrell School for autistic children and young adults. He also acts as pro-bono legal counsel and board member of the Hannah Banana Foundation, an organization dedicated to making the hospital experience of adult cancer patients more enjoyable.

As vice chair of the Council of Young Jewish Presidents, Weber is currently planning the second annual Memorial Day event. "We believe that the Jewish community should have a more public role in recognizing the contribution of American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and to support our soldiers still fighting."

Flipper: Weber served as captain of Brandeis’ Swimming and Diving Team. True love: Bram met Aimee at a day camp on Long Island the summer after he graduated college. She, an incoming college freshman, was a counselor; he, a lifeguard.
