Modeling itself after the iconic American United Service Organization (USO), young American entertainers who are organizing performances for Israeli soldiers at military bases across Israel are seeking funds for a second tour this summer. The Israel Service Organization (ISO) is organizing 16 performances for Israeli soldiers fighting on the front lines to protect Israel from her enemies. Working in conjunction with the cultural department of the Israel Defense Forces, plans are tentatively scheduled for performances in August 2008 on every Sunday through Wednesday evenings at different military installations across Israel. ISO is attempting to raise a minimum of $75,000 to proceed with this year’s plan. “This is our way of giving back to the Israeli military and thanking the soldiers for their heroic service,” said
Ben Hyman, Israel Service Organization’s cofounder and director of operations. In 2007, organizers produced the first ISO tour featuring the Humble Kings Project, the official band of the ISO. Last year, ISO produced six shows in nine days across Israel. For further information, contact www.israelservice.org
