Purim Spoof 09: Chasidic Mothers Feel Sorry For Octuplets Mom
by
Saying it was hard to imagine having only 14 children, a group of chasidic mothers are raising cash for Nadya Suleman, the Los Angeles mom who recently made headlines for giving birth to octuplets. “She’s off to a great start,” said Raizy Glickstern of Williamsburg. “At 33, she could easily have another six, or seven, while still in her prime childbearing years. Why should she listen to those farbissiners”? Glickstern, a mother of 22, said members of her community had raised $8,564 in pushke money and 15 lokshen kugels to be sent to Suleman, who had six children prior to her controversial fertility treatments. “She reminds me of when I had my first 14,” said Glickstern, in an interview from the mothers’ convalescent home where she has spent the past 11 years. “I talk to mothers all the time who have to stop after 15, 16. I myself waited almost two years between number 17 and 18. I know the heartbreak she must feel.”
