Kosher Wine Guide 2011

The 2nd annual Jewish Week Kosher Wine Guide includes articles on how to pick the right wines for your seder and profiles of two up-and-coming kosher garagistes — and how these young winemakers are contributing to the “wine revolution.”

Also featured will be a look at the Herzogs, the first family of kosher wine.

The Guide also features this year’s winners from The Jewish Week’s Top 18 Kosher Wine Competition. The winning wines were selected by a prestigious panel of eight judges; tastings were done over a two-week period in February. The judges tasted more than 280 bottles of wine from wineries from around the world in the following categories:

*Top 18 White Wines Under $18

*Top 18 White Wines Over $18
*Top 18 Red Wines Under $25
*Top 18 Red Wines Over $25
*Top 18 Wines Over $50
*Top 18 Red Wines
*Top 18 White Wines
*Top 18 Israeli Wines

On March 27, from 2-5 p.m., The Grand Wine Tasting will be held at the City Winery, a wine bar, restaurant, interactive event space and winemaking facility on 155 Varick St. in Tribeca. City Winery produces more than 250 barrels of wine a year, many of them kosher.
