Commenting guidelines:
It is not too late to be a Maccabee, This is your fight too!
The Jewish community in New Zealand numbers less than 7,000. Their are
more Jews within 2 square miles of the people who are reading this letter.
We ,are now, and possibly you too, may face the denial of your religious
freedom.
The New Zealand Jewish community is fighting for you and ourselves,
because of a ban on Kosher slaughter. If the government of New Zealand
wins the court case that we are currently involved with, then many other
countries will follow suit. It may also be extended to the denial of our other
religious rites as well.
Yes, it is true that we have won a small partial victory because the government
will now allow ONLY the slaughter of poultry, but our fight continues.
I am imploring you to aid us in our fight by helping to defray our legal costs,
which may be as high as $ US 400,000 should an appeal in court be necessary.
Arrangements have been made to make a tax deductible contribution
in the United States, to assist in paying the legal costs for our case in
the High Court regarding the ban on shechita.
Please have all your friends, relatives and acquaintances who wish to
make payment in U.S. dollars to have checks made payable to:
Lincoln Square Synagogue,
Subject line : New Zealand
and mail it to:
Lincoln Square Synagogue
200 Amsterdam Avenue
New York, NY 10023
Thank you,
Norman Kabak
