Can Bibi Repair Rift With Obama?

I've been unable to find another instance when an American political party allied itself so closely with a friendly foreign government for the purpose of defeating the policy of an American administration.

There has been no more outspoken foe of the Iran nuclear deal backed by the Obama administration than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, nor has there ever been a leader of an American ally who has plunged so deeply and so blatantly into domestic partisan American politics.

Israel may have won after all.

On the heels of the expected Congressional approval of the Iran nuclear agreement that was fiercely fought by much of the organized Jewish community here, some observers argue that Israel and its supporters earned a different kind of victory.

DC Branch of Knesset

The U.S. Congress sounds increasing like the Washington branch of the Knesset.  I'm just waiting for Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul to show up on the Senate floor wearing yarmulkes.

Senators debating the Iran bill this week have been busy trying to out-Israel each other.

Among the most ardent are Presidential hopefuls and senators facing tough reelection campaigns.  A number of them were in Las Vegas last weekend kissing the ring of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who they hope will dip into his billions to fund their campaigns.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer, said Israel should never be afraid to speak up on issues such as the Iranian threat to the Jewish state.

Bibi’s Real DC Agenda; Boehner's Confession

Prime Minister Netanyahu's goal in coming to Washington next month is not to toughen the American bargaining position but to undercut it entirely. Barack Obama's has said “no deal is better than a bad deal” when it comes to nuclear negotiations with Iran,  but Bibi made clear this week that his position is “no deal is better than any deal.”

With Biden Opting Out, Partisan Row Over Netanyahu Speech Intensifies

02/08/2015 - 19:00

Washington — In a blow to Israel’s efforts to contain the controversy over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming speech to Congress, Vice President Joe Biden announced that he would not attend the address.

Did Bibi Outsmart Himself?

The unprecedented ploy by Benjamin Netanyahu (R-Jerusalem) and Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to go behind the back of the President of the United States to lobby the Congress against the administration's Iran policy could well cause more harm to Israel than anyone else, threatening serious damage to the bipartisan consensus so many have worked so hard for so long to establish.
