J Street, wrapping up its second national conference today, will fan out over Capitol Hill for a round of lobbying meetings that will deliver a message that could – at least in part -- could warm AIPAC's heart: don't cut aid to Israel.
That, along with a call to continue aid to the Palestinian Authority in the interests of a two-state solution, is the sole “ask” in about 250 Hill meetings – mostly local J Streeters going to their own representatives offices, taking another page out of AIPAC's play book.
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- John Hagee Ministries will discontinue funding for an Israeli right-wing group that has depicted the New Israel Fund and its affiliates as anti-Israel.
The decision to end funding for Im Tirtzu was revealed in an email by Lee Wunsch, the president of the Houston Jewish Federation, and obtained over the weekend by Richard Silverstein, a blogger who has campaigned against funding the group.
(JTA) -- Israeli authorities alleged that eight Israeli Arabs charged with weapons offenses had ambitions of joining a global jihad, or holy war.
According to media accounts of the eight Nazareth men charged Thursday with illegal weapons trading, the group tracked speeches and writings by al-Qaida leaders and spoke of Jews and Christians as "infidels."
