Cincinnati — Out here in the America between the coasts, in what may be the most prized electoral catch of all come November, Sam Samet is President Barack Obama's worst nightmare.

And Michael Heines is Mitt Romney's.

Sipping a cup of coffee after the morning minyan at suburban Adath Israel Synagogue, Samet, 77, said he voted for Obama four years ago. But now, three years into the president's rocky term, the lifelong Democrat is so disenchanted with him that he might sit out the election.

Romney Takes 6 States On Super Tuesday

WASHINGTON (JTA) – Leading Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney took six of 10 states in Super Tuesday primaries, including a narrow victory in coveted Ohio.

Also in Ohio, Republicans selected a Jewish veteran to run for the U.S. Senate and longtime Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a consistent critic of Israel, lost in a Democratic primary.

Ohio GOP Candidate Was Nazi Reenactor

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- An Ohio Republican running for the U.S. Congress belonged to a group that staged full-dress reenactments of Nazi SS maneuvers.

Rich Iott, a Toledo-area Tea Party-backed candidate who is challenging incumbent Democrat Marcy Kaptur, belonged to "Wiking" from 2003-2007, The Atlantic reported on Friday night.

Iott, a businessman, told the magazine that the group did not subscribe to Nazism.

Ohio's (Jewish) Chief Justice in Washington, New York

Funny, his name doesn't sound Jewish.

But maybe that's one of the reasons Ohio Supreme Court Justice Eric Brown did a swing through Washington and New York this week – to get the word out to the Jewish political community that he's running for reelection next month and could use some support.

Brown, a Democrat, could have a tough go of it, since the rest of the Court is a solid wall of Republicans; hence the need for a jolt of political money.
