‘Oh, My Age Is Just A Number’

Mollie Katzen is a chef, cookbook author and artist, and she is widely considered to be the world’s foremost expert on vegetarian cuisine. She has written (and illustrated) 11 (and soon to be 12) cookbooks, including the iconic “Moosewood Cookbook” (1977), “The Enchanted Broccoli Forest” (1982) and the upcoming “The Heart of the Plate: Vegetarian Recipes for a New Generation (2013).

Seeking Justice For Agunot

Earlier this year, Israeli headlines featured R. Cohen, an Orthodox mother of two who had been separated from her husband Shai for 12 years. Shai chose to spend the last six in jail rather than give his wife a get (writ of Jewish divorce) but now wanted his own freedom. He was taken to a religious court to give the get. During a break in proceedings, unshackled, he escaped by jumping through a second-story men’s room window. Roadblocks and helicopter searches yielded nothing. R. Cohen screamed. She had been so close…

After Brief Senate Career, Russian-Speaking Pol Aims For City Council

David Storobin seeks a political comeback after defeat in race for super-Jewish Senate district.

He served just 11 days in Albany, and spent much of his brief term as a state senator struggling to help constituents recover from Superstorm Sandy before falling victim to redistricting.

Now, David Storobin is jumping back into politics in a run for City Hall. Born in Belarus, the Republican prevailed in an extremely tight Brooklyn race last year to succeed imprisoned Sen. Carl Kruger -– after months of counting and unproven allegations of voter fraud. But Kruger’s district was split in five in last year’s reapportionment process.

A Jewish gay activist who sued his cousin for allegedly molesting him for several years has been awarded $3.5 million in Brooklyn Supreme Court, according to the Daily News.
