White House statement: Obama Speaks to Netanyahu

“This morning between 10:00 and 10:15 AM CDT, the President spoke by phone with Prime Minister Netanyahu. He said he understood the Prime Minister's decision to return immediately to Israel to deal with today's events. They agreed to reschedule their meeting at the first opportunity. The President expressed deep regret at the loss of life in today's incident, and concern for the wounded, many of whom are being treated in Israeli hospitals. The President also expressed the importance of learning all the facts and circumstances around this morning's tragic events as soon as possible.”

While I am an ardent supporter of the State of Israel, I myself question the legality of what Israel did in Interntational waters. There is no doubt that Israel was set up to be the bad guy here... I just wish they had let the flotilla enter Israeli teritory before forcible boarding the boat. If that had happened, no one could blame Israel for the actions they took. Whats not being stated is that... in spite of everything that took place, Israel escorted 5 boats to a predetermined port, unloaded the coargo & will see to it that the aid reaches the civilian population in Gaza.
