Ex-Rabbi At Long Island Yeshiva Abused Student, Cops Say

Rabbi Gary Lieberman sexually abused a 10-year-old student at Hebrew Academy of Nassau County when he was a teacher there,  police said Friday.

The abuse allegedly took place at the yeshiva's lower school campus in West Hempstead between between November, 2009 and May 2010. The rabbi, who lives in Far Rockaway, was fires from the yeshiva for unspecified reasons in the summer of 2010.

And that’s just what she thought she was doing 24 years ago when she put her 10-year-old son Mike in therapy after police and other parents convinced her — over Mike’s initial insistence to the contrary — that he had been molested by a popular retired schoolteacher named Arnold Friedman and his son Jesse during after-school computer classes in their Great Neck home.

The obvious question is, “Does the New York area really need another film festival?”

The not-so-obvious answer, given by Regina Gil, the founder of the Gold Coast International Film Festival, which opens its inaugural event on June 1, is an emphatic affirmative.

“Infiltration,” top, and “Naomi” are two Israeli films that will screen at the first Gold Coast International Film Festival.
