At memorial services here for slain teens.

Thousands of Jews in the metropolitan area participated in hastily prepared programs Tuesday evening to memorialize the three Israeli teenagers who were buried earlier in the day.

More than 700 people filled The Jewish Center on the Upper West Side and an estimated 500 more stood outside as a series of dignitaries – state and city political officials, communal leaders and clergy – expressed their anguish and anger over the murder of Naftali Fraenkel, Eyal Yifrah and Gilad Shaar.

Despite its many fault lines, the international Jewish community stands united, and shoulder to shoulder with Israel, in its struggle to bring Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Frenkel safely home. There are no equivocations to be argued, no moral equivalences to be drawn with Israel’s continued presence in the territories, no discussion of housing starts in disputed areas … nothing. This is, simply, a terrorist act by a terrorist organization. If you have to struggle to be appalled by it, well, shame on you.
