University of California President Mark Yudof defended Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan's right to speak at the university's Berkeley campus.

Farrakhan's speech Saturday was billed as being about black empowerment, but was also peppered with anti-Semitic and hate speech, students told The Daily Californian student newspaper.

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan decried what he called Jewish control of the media and accused “Zionists” of trying to push America into war with Iran.

Farrakhan spoke for three hours Sunday before a crowd of thousands at the 82nd annual Saviors’ Day celebration in Chicago.

In his address, along with the accusation about a war with Iran, Farrakhan asserted that Jews were responsible for a controversial 2008 cover of The New Yorker that depicted President Obama in Muslim garb, according to the Religion News Service.

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- The United States under President Obama is "dominated by a secular, anti-Christian and anti-Jewish elite," Newt Gingrich said.

Gingrich, the onetime speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and a likely presidential candidate for 2012, spoke on March 25 at a meeting in Iowa of the American Family Association, Politico reported.
