Lindsey Graham

Bibi's $10-Billion Blunder

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dropped his threat to wait for the next president to make a better offer on a 10-year military aid bill if the Obama administration doesn't meet his demands.

That's the word from officials at the White House, the Congress and the Israeli government.

I Agree With Ted Cruz

I have found very little I can agree on with Ted Cruz in this election.  Until this week.

Now that Cruz has dropped out of the race for president, one question remains:  will the junior senator from Texas vote in November for the man he called an utterly amoral bully, narcissist, "pathological liar," " a serial philanderer," and unfit to be president?

And what about all the others in the Dump Trump movement, who may not have expressed themselves in the same words but shared the sentiment?

Lindsey Graham

All of the GOP presidential contenders claim to be true and loyal friends of Israel, but for most it is a political statement, grounded less in understanding than in their search for contributions from wealthy single-issue Jewish donors.

The rare exception is Lindsey Graham.  The South Carolina senator, who dropped out of the presidential race today, had the best comprehension of the issues and record of support among the candidates when it came to US-Israel relations.

And The Flag For Which It Stands

The Confederate flag was the symbol of insurrection and treason and the banner under which a war was fought to preserve slavery. Apparently that's OK with those running for the Republican nomination for president of the United States.

Every Republican presidential wannabe who's been asked about it has refused to join calls for removing the stars and bars from the South Carolina Statehouse grounds.  Can't offend those good ole boys in the Klan, especially if they might be voting in the South Carolina GOP primary, I guess.

With sharp jabs at the Obama administration, Christians United for Israel launched its annual Washington rally with appeals to Congress to impose new sanctions on Iran and to cut off funding to the Palestinian Authority.

Senate Amendment Penalizing Palestinians For U.N. Status Does Not Pass

12/05/2012 - 19:00

An amendment that would have penalized Palestinians for seeking non-member state status at the United Nations was not included in a defense bill that was passed by the U.S. Senate.

Cheap talk about an expensive Iran war

While Iran is signaling once again that it's interested in talks about its nuclear program, a prominent U.S. senator thinks he has the answer for dealing with the threat: bomb the heck out of them.

Birthright citizenship, illegal immigration and my Aunt Rose

My great aunt Rose came to America in the early 1900s, a refugee from Czarist Russia, and family legend has it she arrived smuggled in a trunk.

By any standard, she was an illegal immigrant – yet she didn't behead anybody and leave the body in the Arizona desert and she didn't fraudulently get welfare services. She went on to a productive life in America, working for almost a half century in the millinery industry, paying taxes and contributing to – and ultimately benefiting from – Social Security.
