Jewish Groups Oppose Holocaust Insurance Bill in Congress

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Six Jewish organizations signed a letter calling on the U.S. Congress not to advance a bill that would reopen the Holocaust insurance assessment process.

The American Jewish Committee, the Anti-Defamation League, B’nai B'rith International, the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the World Jewish Congress and the World Jewish Restitution Organization condemned the Holocaust Insurance Accountability Act of 2010 in a recent letter to Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), chairman of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

Yale Researchers Tout Jewish Nursery Program

An effort to transform Jewish early childhood education has gotten a stamp of approval of sorts from the Yale Child Study Center.

The Jewish Early Childhood Education Initiative, which helps Jewish nursery schools strengthen their Judaic content and better engage parents while embracing the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy, was highlighted in a study by Yale professors J. P. Comer and Michael Ben-Avie. The results have been published in the latest issue of the Early Childhood Education Journal.

Russian Group To Honor Non-Russian

COJECO marks a first with award to Limmud FSU co-founder.

Sandy Cahn, co-founder of Limmud FSU, will be the first-ever non-Russian honoree at this year’s annual reception of the Council of Jewish Émigré Community Organizations (COJECO), to be held May 10 at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. COJECO, under the auspices of UFA-Federation of New York, is made up of more than 40 member organizations serving the local Russian-speaking Jewish community.
