The frustration in the voice of former Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Ephraim Sneh is evident when he speaks of the planned U.S. opposition to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ bid for United Nations’ recognition of Palestine as a non-member state.

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Israeli police arrested 11 activists demonstrating in front of the U.S. ambassador to Israel's home against the death of a Palestinian woman who protested the West Bank security fence.
Jawaher Abu Rahma, 36, died on the morning of Jan. 1, hours after she inhaled tear gas at a demonstration near the West Bank village of Bilin. She reportedly died of complications from inhaling the tear gas.
