In 2003, while still serving as the Israeli Ambassador to the United States, I was privileged to attend the investiture ceremony of Richard Joel as president of Yeshiva University.  Since then, I have served as co-chairman of Nefesh B’Nefesh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel, and a member of the Israeli Knesset.  Ten years ago, I would never have imagined that I would one day return to YU to join President Joel and the university’s illustrious faculty as the Rennert Visiting Professor of Foreign Policy Studies, a title of which I am most proud.

Brig. Gen. (Res.) Dr. Daniel Gold was awarded the Israel Defense Prize in 2012 for his role in inventing and managing the development of the Iron Dome anti-missile/rocket defense system that is credited with protecting much of Israel during last summer’s war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip. He is CEO and founder of Gold R&D Technology and Innovation Ltd., and headed R&D at the Israel Ministry of Defense and at the Israel Defense Forces. He was interviewed in connection with his receipt here Sunday of the Protector of Israel Award from the Times of Israel online news organization.

Washington — Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) vigorously defended her vote for increased funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile-interception system.

“America has a very special relationship with Israel,” Warren, a leader among liberal Democrats touted as a possible presidential contender, said last week at a Cape Cod town hall meeting when challenged about her vote.
