The Brownstone, a recently launched Jewish educational effort based in a six-story building in the East Village, was closed temporarily last week because of an unexpected building code violation, but is expected to reopen by the start of the Sukkot holiday on Sept. 18.

High Holiday Resources From 'Gateways: Access To Jewish Education'

Gateways is a Boston-area organization that provides special education services, expertise and support to enable students with diverse learning needs to succeed in Jewish education settings and participate in Jewish life.

Towards this goal, we have created for the community a range of High Holiday resources: tools for educators and parents of young children and students with special needs.

Amid Marathon Bombings, A Girl With Down Syndrome Becomes A Bat Mitzvah

Last week's Torah reading consisted of two parshiot: Acharei Mot ("After the Death") and Kedoshim ("Holy Ones"). I cannot but think that these passages perfectly encapsulated the events last week.
