So, it seems the smart money’s on the food scene.
Natan, the giving circle funded by Wall Street machers who see young organizations and fringe ideas as key to Jewish life, just announced that two of its 2013 grantees are food-focused, just like us.
Based in London, Gefiltefest’s motto is “Embracing all things Jewish and foody.” It uses food to engage young Jews in culture and community and hosts a massive food festival every spring. Be there this year on May 19 or be square.
Closer to home, The Kitchen in San Francisco is an independent spiritual community led by Rabbi Noa Kusher, which hosts traditional community events, lifecyle and holiday rituals and home-based programs. It’s not all about food, but the org is called The Kitchen for a reason.
Stay tuned: more on these two cool groups coming.
