Earth Day Treats

Bring back childhood with cup o' dirt and ants on a log.

Photo Galleria:

Today is Earth Day, the annual celebration and honoring of the environment, when we examine the ways in which mankind could help our planet for future generations. As a kid, Earth Day was also about delicious snacks. My favorite ones, which I still eat occasionally, are cup o' dirt (sometimes known as mud pie without the crust) and ants on a log.

Cup O' Dirt:

What You'll Need:

  • 2 packages of instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 package of Oreo cookies
  • 1 bag of gummy worms

Preparation:

  • Put contents on instant pudding mix into a large bowl and add milk, beating or whisking it until well-combined, about 1 minute. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Empty contents or Oreo package into a food processor. Pulse until Oreos are small, evenly'sized crumbs.
  • Scoop 2 tbsp crushed oreos into plastic cups, Add 1/2 cup pudding. Add another tbsp crushed oreos. Garnish with 1-2 gummy worms.

Ants On A Log:

What You'll Need:

  • 4 cellery stocks
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 4 tbsp raisins

Preparation:

  • Clean and cut cellery into finger-length pieces.
  • Liberally spread peanut butter into the crevices of the celery
  • Place raisins atop peanut butter.
