Selective Support

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Unfortunately the declaration of Apartheid Week by a number of organizations and students, many with no connection to the university where the rallies are being conducted, represents only the tip of the iceberg of the effort to delegitimize the State of Israel (“Apartheid Weak,” Editorial, March 5).

I have been outraged that the universities, some of which even supply funds for these activities, allow such hate to be associated with their institutions.

Certainly Arab countries, most notably Saudi Arabia, have essentially bought a number of universities, providing financial support for chairs and even departments on Middle East studies.

Even though individual Jewish donors to universities do not have the financial means of a Saudi Arabia or Kuwait, they should refrain from contributing funds to institutions that sponsor hate rallies and instead give to organizations that support Israel in its fight against the false propaganda that is being spewed.
