U Of Chicago Faculty Members Blame Federation For Hillel Crisis

Editor and Publisher

A group of 37 faculty members at the University of Chicago sent a blistering letter charging the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago with a “total lack of regard for the values” of the university and community in its decision to fire the popular executive director of the school’s Hillel, along with its 17 board members.

The action was taken several weeks ago after the Federation and Hillel reached an impasse over the Jewish campus group’s request for autonomy.
