3,000 Attend Glen Beck Jerusalem Rally Kickoff Event

08/22/2011

Some 3,000 people turned out for the kickoff event in Israel of conservative American talk-show host Glenn Beck’s four-day rally.

Beck professed his support for Israel and the Jewish people at the event at the ancient Roman amphitheater in Caesarea on Sunday night. He was joined on stage by historian David Barton, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin of Efrat in the West Bank, author Mike Evans, and Pastor John Hagee, the evangelical pastor at the helm of Christians United for Israel.

Exit polls point to dramatic conservative surge

Looking at some of the early exit polls, there's a fascinating one by NPR.

According to the public radio folks, 41 percent of today's voters labeled themselves “conservative.”

Why is that important? It's up from 34 percent in 2008, 32 percent in 2006. That's a pretty dramatic shift, and points to how the final tallies are likely to go tonight.

It will be very interesting to see if we get some Jewish numbers on that question
