when my son was in 8th grade at a yeshiva that had an on premises high school also, we received not only postcards and letters from other yeshiva high schools, but we received phone calls , at least 2x a week from other yeshivas asking us to come to their open houses ... by the way, some of the postcards had my son's name on it and some of the phone calls asked to speak to him directly ( a minor of course) north shore did what all the other schools are doing too and no one has made a big deal of it - we think shechter is making more of this than it is because they have always had a problem with orthodox schools and wish to create unfortunately more problems between orthodox and conservative schools and people than we have currently..

BDS, Boycott, divest and sanction, being a move that has taken off around the world and whilst not a legal repercussion, is one way to affect a change in a nation that commits war crimes.

My former husband and I had 2 children with Tay Sachs over 50 years ago. Of my two other natural children 1 is a carrier and has never had a child. The other is not a carrier and married a non-Jew. (we adopted two non;Jewish babies. )Several family members on my father's side have been tested and some tested positive for TS and have been screened before having children. Remembering the difficulty, pain and sadness we experienced at a time when so little was known about this disease, I would urge all Jewish couples to be tested before conceiving children. So much tragedy and expense could be avoided. Our Rabbi was reluctant to mention the testing program in Temple. All Rabbis should give the information to cohabiting couples! My fear is that, as people intermarry and do not always know about their genetic background, (especially those using sperm donors ) Tay Sachs will spread into the total population.

Mr. Pelavin misses one MAJOR reason for the outcome that occurred. For two years, Republicans have been criticizing everything Democrats have done. This criticism has been daily, strong, and often based on overstatements or outright lies. In return, there have been almost NO Democrats overtly criticizing Republicans. Democrats defend themselves but almost never attack. Instead, President Obama and the Democrats seem happy to be a punching bag -- taking blow after blow and in return refusing to punch back but continuing to want to be nice to their antagonists. The two parties are playing by different sets of rules, and the Republicans are winning big time.
Given these facts -- two years of Republican attacks with NO effective counterpunches by the Democrats -- the election results are only surprising in that the Republicans did not take the US Senate as well. Democrats must change their tactics, or there is no question that President Obama will be a one term President.

Ben,... Glenn Beck loves to doctor tapes and distort what people are really saying. He always leaves out the important part of the sentence to make things much worse than they are. Glenn will continue saying the hateful things about the President, (which he started months before Barack Obama entered office) Democrats, progressives, Soros, etc, etc. until he is off the air.
Anyone who says anything negative about Glenn, will find IMMEDIATE RETALIATION that may go on for months or years. He has tried to discredit Rev. Israel was given to the Jewish people after the second world war as a place to rebuild themselves. It wasn't "restored". They then took it upon themselves to control the area and basically did to smaller groups around them what the Nazis had done to the Jews during Hitler's reign.

Dr. Vitow is a gutsy administrator but the best in the business. He did nothing wrong. Parents came to him and he seized the opportunity to attract the best and the brightest from the people at Schechter that are seeking an Orthodox school.
Plain and simple- if Schechter were as good as North Shore nobody would be switching.
