Now for his second term, he has nominated for the highest posts bearing on the Middle East three figures who give the strongest indication we can expect much more of the same – John Kerry for State, Chuck Hagel for Defense and John Brennan for the CIA.

Sen. Graham: Hagel An 'Antagonist' Toward Israel

Former senator Chuck Hagel will face tough questions on Israel and its enemies if nominated for defense secretary, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, a member of the House Armed Services Committee on Sunday.

"He is an antagonistic figure toward the State of Israel," Graham, a South Carolina Republican, told Candy Crowley on CNN's State of the Union.

Citing some of Hagel's expressed opinions on Israel, Iran and Afghanistan, Graham declined to say whether he would be willing to join a fillibuster to block the expected nomination.

Israel's New Missile Tests A Success

On the heels of the success of the Iron Dome system, Israel successfully tested a new missile defense system in the Negev.

Dubbed David’s Sling, after the weapon used in the Biblical story of David and Goliath, the system is being developed jointly between the Israeli and American defense firms Rafael and Raytheon. It is designed to intercept medium to long-range missile between 70 and 300 kilometers—likely to be primarily launched from Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah, Syria and Iran.

'Hezbollah' Drone May Have Captured Images Of U.S.-Israel Exercise

A drone shot down by Israel over the Negev desert transmitted photos of preparations for a military drill between Israel and the United States, and of key weapons sites in Israel, a British newspaper reported.

The unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV, was shot down by Israeli troops on Oct. 6, after entering Israeli airspace near the Mediterranean Sea.

The drone was launched from Lebanon, in a cooperation between the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah, the Sunday Times of London reported, citing unnamed sources.

U.S. authorities have seized $150 million from a New York account of the Lebanon’s Banque Libano Francaise SAL (BLF), which authorities say is connected with a larger scheme to launder hundreds of millions of dollars through U.S. banks for the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Bulgarian Police Searching For Bombing Accomplice

An accomplice of the suicide bomber in Bulgaria that killed six on an Israeli tour bus in Burgas reportedly is likely to still be in Bulgaria, possibly with another bomb,.

The accomplice is believed to have been a backup for the suicide bomber, the Novinite.com website reported. Another accomplice was set to shoot the other two if they were captured by or turned themselves in to police, and both reportedly were at the airport during the July 18 attack.

Bulgarian police are continuing their search for the accomplices.

Burgas Bomber A Hezbollah Operative, Says U.S.

U.S. officials believe the suicide bomber who killed Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria, was a member of Hezbollah.

The bomber was “acting under broad guidance” to hit Israeli targets, an unnamed senior American official told The New York Times. Other American officials confirmed that the bomber was a member of Hezbollah, according to the newspaper.
