Muslim Brotherhood Threatens to Cancel Peace with Israel

NEW YORK (JTA) -- A leader of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood said any post-Mubarak government should dissolve its peace treaty with Israel.

"After President Mubarak steps down and a provisional government is formed, there is a need to dissolve the peace treaty with Israel," Rashad al-Bayoumi, a deputy leader of the movement, told a Japanese television station, according to a report in The Washington Times.

Jewish Group Claims Hamas Hacked its Website

NEW YORK (JTA) – The website of the Jewish People Policy Institute was hacked Thursday by a group that the institute claims is affiliated with Hamas.

The JPPI, a Jerusalem-based think tank that focuses on the Jewish future and Israel's security, issued a statement saying hackers took over its website, then posted a picture of an Israeli tank and a Palestinian child on the English section, and removed a recently uploaded assessment and analysis documents.

WikiLeaks: Iran Missiles Can Reach Israel in 12 Minutes

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Iran has missiles that can reach Israel in 12 minutes, according to cables released by WikiLeaks.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi told a U.S. Congressional delegation in November 2009 that the Islamic Republic has over 300 missiles that can reach the Jewish state in up to 12 minutes, according to the cables released on Sunday.

Rocket from Gaza Injures Israeli Girl

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- A girl on her way to school was injured when a Kassam rocket fired from Gaza exploded near a kindergarten in a western Negev kibbutz.

In addition to the girl, 14, an adult living on Kibbutz Zikim near Ashkelon was also injured by shrapnel from the blast, and four others were treated for shock, according to a statement from the Israeli military.

There were 10 children in the kindergarten when the rocket struck about 20 feet away.

Dubai Slaying Suspect Arrested in Canada

(JTA) -- A suspect in the assassination of a Hamas official in Dubai reportedly was arrested in Canada.

The suspect in the January murder of senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a hotel room was not named, nor was any other information given to Dubai police, Reuters reported Tuesday.

A Canadian official will come to Dubai to debrief Police Chief Dahi Khalfan Tamim, who is heading the investigation, according to the news service.

Shalit Negotiations Resumed, Netanyahu Says

JERUSALEM (JTA) -- Negotiations to release captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit from Hamas have resumed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu on Sunday said that Israel has "renewed contact with the German mediator" in order to free Shalit, who is being held in the Gaza Strip.

Shalit was captured in a cross-border raid in June 2006.
