Israel is preparing personnel other than its air force to respond to the growing threat of missile and rocket attacks from Gaza -- which have reached as far north as the outskirts of Jerusalem -- a top military spokeswoman said Thursday.

Lt. Col. Avital Leibovitch: "Hamas got loud and clear the message when we targeted the vehicle [Jabari] sat in."

Three Israelis were killed when a rocket fired from Gaza hit their Kiryat Malachi home.

The rocket that struck the private home on Thursday morning was one of at least 100 rockets fired from Gaza since the assassination late Wednesday afternoon of Hamas military chief in Gaza, Ahmed Jabari. The strike came after four days of rocket fire from Gaza terrorist groups on southern Israel. More than 150 rockets are reported to have been fired from Gaza during that time, causing damage to homes and factories.

Three Israelis were killed when a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit their apartment in southern Israel.

The rocket that struck the Kiryat Malachi apartment on Thursday morning -- one of at least 140 rockets fired from Gaza since the assassination late Wednesday afternoon of the Hamas military chief in Gaza, Ahmed Jabari -- also injured a baby girl and a 4-year-old boy. A second building in Kiryat Malachi also was hit.

Israeli Missile Strike Takes Out Hamas Leader As Gaza Crisis Escalates

The head of Hamas' military wing in the Gaza Strip, Ahmed Jabri, was killed by an Israeli missile.

Jabri and a passenger were killed late Wednesday afternoon when the car in which they were driving in Gaza was hit in what Israeli military officials called a "surgical strike." The passenger was Jabri's son, according to Yediot Achronot, though it was not confirmed by other sources.

Two long-range Grad rockets struck Beersheba and two Kassam rockets landed in an open area in southern Israel, threatening a three-day truce.

Israel's Air Force also targeted and hit a rocket launching site and a squad preparing to fire a rocket towards southern Israel, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

Schools were closed throughout Beersheba Sunday, following the Grad rocket attack at about 5:30 a.m. The rockets fell in an open area and caused no damage, according to reports.

Israeli Officer Seriously Wounded In Gaza Border Blast

(Israel Hayom/Exclusive to JNS.org) – An Israel Defense Forces company commander was seriously wounded on Tuesday when an explosive device detonated along the border fence in central Gaza, near the Kissufim crossing, the IDF said.

According to the report, the officer opened a gate as part of a routine checkup to ensure there were no explosives or terrorists along the border, and precisely then the device was detonated. There were no exchanges of fire following the blast.

The emir of pro-Western Qatar is set to become the first head of state to visit Gaza Strip, raising serious geopolitical concerns over the future direction of the Hamas-dominated Palestinian enclave.

According to Israel Hayom, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani is officially visiting the Palestinian enclave to inaugurate reconstruction projects worth over $250 million.

Israel Hits Terror Groups In Gaza

Israeli air strikes targeted and killed a leader of an al-Qaida-linked terror group in Gaza and also struck a terror cell preparing to launch rockets at during a weekend of attacks on both sides.

Two rockets fired from Gaza struck southern Israel early Sunday morning. The rocket strikes were fired after an Israeli air strike hit two Palestinian men in Gaza as they were preparing to launch a rocket attack on Israel, according to a statement from the Israel Defense Forces.

Israeli airstrikes hit four Gaza sites it says were terror-related.

The early Monday morning strikes by the Air Force on a weapon manufacturing facility, a terror activity site and a terror tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip, as well as a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip, were in "direct response" to rocket fire from Gaza on southern Israel, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

Direct hits were confirmed on the sites, according to the IDF.
