Ceasefires Needed On All Fronts

A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is not the only truce needed to restore peace for the Jewish state.  There are at least two others.

The Israeli cabinet looks like a circular firing squad as ministers take pot shots at one another and particularly at the Prime Minister, whose job each covets. It's gotten so bad that Bibi Netanyahu is reluctant to hold a Likud leadership vote because he could get dumped by his party's settler-nationalist wing.

Taxpayers Should Sue Congress

Right now Speaker John Boehner's plans to sue President Obama for not enforcing the laws as the Republican leader thinks he should is a political ploy he may hope will serve to derail pressure in his caucus for impeachment, but it is one that can easily escalate because the inmates are running the asylum.

The annual convention of the Rabbinical Assembly, the international professional association of Conservative/Masorti rabbis, will take place this coming week in Jerusalem.  In my capacity as President of the RA, as it’s commonly referred to, it will be my great honor to formally introduce Shimon Peres, the President of the State of Israel, at a reception that he is hosting for us in his official residence, known as Beit Hannasi.

'We are doing a lot better because you lived and served,' says President Clinton.

02/04/2013

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, who died on Friday, was remembered by his current successor, Michael Bloomberg, as a legendary figure akin to Moses, who “restored the arc of the city’s history."

And while he may not have parted the Red Sea, he did break a subway strike by standing on a bridge and shouting words of encouragement.”

Bill Clinton: Rabin Would Have Approved of Chelsea Marrying a Jew

11/05/2010

NEW YORK (JTA) -- If the Israelis and Palestinians cut a peace deal, Syria likely would ally itself with the West over Iran, and Lebanon would be truly independent, Bill Clinton said.

The former president also warned that Israel will need friends in the region for a future when attacks from Gaza are conducted not with crude, inaccurate rockets but with rockets that inevitably will make use of technological advances to stage GPS-like precision attacks.
