It was just two weeks ago that I shared my sadness at the death of Eunice Shriver Kennedy- a great woman whose death impoverished us all.  And now we have learned of the death of her brother, Senator Edward Kennedy, after a valiant struggle with brain cancer.

Jerry Cahn, a professor of strategic management at Baruch College, is also a serial entrepreneur. The Upper West Sider, whose varied career includes work on Capitol Hill and a stint as director of research and evaluation at Planned Parenthood, has launched three companies with the same name: Brilliant Image. He sold the first, a presentation graphics company, in 1999 to C2Media. The second, which he later renamed Target 3 Communications, is a branding, investor/public relations and marketing communications firm.

With her 10-year-old son at her side, a disabled widow from Long Beach told a hushed group of 500 UJA-Federation lay and professional leaders that the local Jewish community center has "been there for us in the very darkest of times." "I have an immune disease called fibromyalga," explained Harriet Cohen, 46, at the annual Long Island General Assembly in Roslyn, which provides UJA-Federation-funded organizations an opportunity to display their activities.
