Growing up along the shores of the Mediterranean, where a football is round and the sport is played by men in shorts on a grass-covered pitch, you don’t learn much about the huddling, helmeted brand of the NFL game beloved on the bayou.

With those words, Bill Goldberg, the NFL football player turned champion professional wrestler and now actor, was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.

Jewish Athletes Inducted To L.I. Hall Of Fame

 (JTA) – Wrestler Bill Goldberg and Olympic swimmer Jason Lezak were among seven inductees into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

The five others inducted Sunday at the center in Commack, N.Y., were Virginia Tech basketball coach Seth Greenberg; female judo champion Rusty Kanokogi; Penn State volleyball coach Russ Rose; Achilles Track Club founder Dick Traum; and former NFL offensive lineman Alan Veingrad.

But only one will be wearing a Super Bowl ring — Alan Veingrad earned it as a member of the Dallas Cowboys, who won the 1993 National Football League championship.
