 Just moments after the Israeli navy boarded the Turkish Mavi Marmara ship in the Mediterranean en route to Gaza, an explosive battle of another kind was playing out on the Facebook and Twitter fronts. 

The phrases “Gaza flotilla” and “#freedomflotilla” were among the three highest “trending topics” on Twitter on Monday morning, Eastern Standard Time. By Tuesday morning, “flotilla” still remained among the top 10.

Jobs For Ethiopian Israelis

Olim B’Yachad is run by good people who do important work (“Finding Jobs, And Hope, For Ethiopian Gen-Xers,” Feb. 26). But it should have been noted in the article that Danny Negra, one of its stars, is a graduate of the IDC in Herzliya, where I started the Israel At Heart program five years go for Ethiopian Israelis. We now have more than 45 students there on full scholarships, with special English tutors and a wonderful young Ethiopian woman named Ester David, who works full time recruiting the best and brightest from the community each year. 

Obama A Threat To Israel, Mideast Expert Charges

Tel Aviv — Judging from the views of Israeli academics at a panel Thursday afternoon, Israel has much to worry about if Barack Obama is elected president this fall.

Barry Rubin, a well-known and respected Mideast expert and academic, told an audience today at a conference at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA) at Bar-Ilan University here that an Obama victory would precipitate “the most dangerous crisis facing the world.”
