Aspects of Divine Femininity at the Crossroads of Tradition - Brooklyn/Staten Island - Classes
Aspects of Divine Femininity at the Crossroads of Tradition - Brooklyn/Staten Island
Judaism has a reputation as presenting a patriarchal view of the Deity, but that's not the whole story. What has been the role of the feminine in our traditional concept of G-d? How can we apply those concepts to our own lives? Over the course of three sessions we'll explore the development of traditional understandings of the feminine Divine aspect which came to be known as the Shekhinah, Malkhut, and Kenesset Yisrael. Additional details at www.psjc.org. Texts will be explored in Hebrew, with English translations available. Familiarity with rabbinic texts helpful. Instructor: Jeremy Brown 3 sessions: Saturdays, 11/7, 12/12, 1/9 following Shabbat services and Kiddush $30 members / $45 non-members Please bring a parve or dairy dish to share. Drashaphobia - Brooklyn/Staten Island - Classes
Drashaphobia - Brooklyn/Staten Island
It's not just for rabbis anymore. Giving a Dvar Torah (sharing a word of Torah) with our community on Friday night or Saturday morning is a wonderful opportunity for every member of our community. It is also a bit daunting. Do you suffer from Drashaphobia? Do you sit in services and know that there’s something inside of you that you want to share with the community, but you are unsure how to start? How to frame the idea within Jewish texts? How to pull out meaning from the portion of the week? There are techniques and approaches to help in the preparation of a dvar torah. Together, we will learn these techniques and help you prepare to "Give a Drash" at PSJC. After Services and Kiddush. No Charge. Call to register 718/768.1453 www.psjc.org
