National Jewish Book Awards Announced

Yossi Klein Halevi’s “Like Dreamers” was named the 2013 Jewish Book of the Year by the Jewish Book Council. The National Jewish Book Awards were announced in 17 categories, with Klein and other Israelis winning key prizes.

Francesca Segal Awarded Sami Rohr Prize

Francesca Segal has been awarded the 2013 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature for her first novel, “The Innocents” (Voice). The award carries a prize of $100,000.

Nobel Laureate Eric Kandel Honored For Bridging Worlds of Science and Literature

The Jewish Book Council has bestowed its Lifetime Achievement Award in past years on literary figures Philip Roth and Cynthia Ozick. This year’s award, however, went to someone not as well known in the world of literature, but who has contributed to the Jewish community as well as the world of literature and science.
