President Obama marked the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide this week by once again carefully avoiding the use of the G word, afraid of offending our volatile  and unreliable Turkish ally.  Seven years ago candidate Obama, like his Democratic opponent, Sen. Hillary Clinton, pledged support for legislation to memorializing the 1915 slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians by the Ottoman Empire as genocide.

Who would have predicted it:  AIPAC is opposing an amendment in the Senate proposed by none other than its idol, Benjamin Netanyahu.

April is Autism Awareness Month.

It's not only about making people aware that autism exists. One in 68 individuals in the United States have autism. Most people know someone or know of someone that's affected by it.

It's not about just wearing blue for a day or making your kids wear blue to show support, although I do appreciate that and hope that there was a teachable moment in there somewhere!

Long, long ago, appearing partially unclad occasioned no greater agita in my mind than appearing fully dressed. At that time, wearing a bathing suit was a fashion opportunity rather than a moment of shame. But Gottex bathing suits were on a list of items well beyond my price range.

Senate Republicans and the White House reached a bipartisan compromise on giving the Congress a stronger voice on the approval of any nuclear agreement with Iran.  Just because they’ve agreed on terms for the debate doesn’t improve the chances for approval have increased.
