One of the major complaints by the radical left against the Bush administration was that it was too uniltaral in its foreign affairs, it didn’t take advice from other countries, and the left often pointed to polls showing that support for the United States fell to new lows under Bush.
How’s Obama doing?
“Just 6 percent of Jewish Israelis believe President Obama’s policies are pro-Israel,” according to a new Jerusalem Post poll (Jan. 19). Six percent! A clear majority of Israelis considered Obama’s policies to be more pro-Palestinian than pro-Israel, while only 36 percent said he was neutral, as if neutrality between Israel and Palestinians isn’t itself morally corrupt. There’s a word beyond corrupt for a president who dictates that a Jewish baby born in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, or in Hebron for that matter (Hebron, like the Jewish Quarter, was Jewish for centuries other than the time it was ethnically cleansed between 1948 and 1967), is an obstacle to peace. That is not just corrupt, it is perverse. Only 6 percent for Obama in Israel.
How’s Obama doing in Europe? The Times reported (June 4) that Obama has an “increasingly strained relationship” with Chancellor Angela Merkel. “A rift has quietly opened up between Germany and the United States…. there is a sense that the Obama administration is ignoring the needs and counsel of longtime allies.”
Why do they hate us? Must be the president.
