Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 Israel’s war against Iran is underway. Over in London, the Telegraph headlined (Feb. 16): “Israel Launches Covert War Against Iran.” The sub-head: “Israel has launched a covert war against Iran as an alternative to direct military strikes against Tehran’s nuclear programme, US intelligence sources have revealed.”   It’s not exactly covert if it’s in the newspapers, is it?   How did American intelligence sources know it and why did they reveal it? Considering the existential threat that an Iranian nuclear program presents to Israel, the exposure of this covert war should be a much bigger scandal — as far as Jews are concerned — than leaking Valerie Plame’s identity, a revelation that, in the end, harmed no one.   Why can’t Israeli and American intelligence agents keep their mouths shut? Are they bragging or stupid or both? If the Israelis are looking for some posters to hang on the walls of their Tehran office, they should look here, here, here, here and here.
