Monday, December 8th, 2008 Here’s a tip for our readers in California:   New York’s Helene Aylon, consistently among the most compelling and spiritually provocative Jewish artists, will be offering a version of “Mirror Covering” (from the 2004 Lodz Bienalle) in the multicultural show, “Homage and Remembrance: The Past is Present,” at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art (www.svma.org), 551 Broadway, Sonoma, CA, through Dec. 14. Other artists in the exhibit are Claudia Bernardi, Victor Cartagena, and Rob Keller.   According to the curator, Anthony Torres, “This exhibition is centered in a contemporary translation of holidays that commemorate changing seasons and life passages… such as Samhain, Yom Kippur (Yizkor), All Saints Day, All Hallows, All Souls Day and Dia de los Muertos.”
