If you care about how many Jews serve in the Senate, early returns contain bad news and good news.

In Connecticut, Democrat Richard Blumenthal has defeated pro wrestling mogul Linda McMahon, a Republican, according to NPR and Reuters.

Than means Connecticut will be represented by two Jews in the Senate – Blumenthal and Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent.

Just around the corner, the AP is projecting that Kelly Ayotte, a Republican, has defeated Rep. Paul Hodes, a Democrat and also the state's first Jewish congressman, in the race for an open seat.

Ayotte, you may recall, was conspicuously endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
