Another Schumer Aide Seeks A Promotion
08/02/2011 - 10:26

Philip Goldfeder, an aide to Sen. Chuck Schumer, will kick off his campaign for state Assembly Thursday in Howard Beach, Queens. The special election will be held Sept. 13 and will also include another race for Assembly and the closely watched contest to succeed Anthony Weiner in Congress, making it a big day for Queens politics.

Goldfeder faces Jane Deacy, a Republican state committee member, in the race for the seat vacated by Democrat Audrey Pheffer when she became Queens County clerk.
If elected Goldfeder, who is Schumer’s director of intergovernmental affairs, would be the latest in a club of ex-Schumer aides to go on to bigger things, including former Assemblyman Jules Polonetsky, now president of the Future of Privacy Forum; former councilman and current TLC Commissioner David Yassky; Deputy Mayor Howard Wolfson and, of course, Weiner.
