The Sunni terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has found a way to create martyrs to its extremist cause that like-minded organizations should hasten to emulate.

The New York Times reports 22 would-be suicide bombers were killed in an ISIS training class near Baghdad today when their commander-instructor gave them a real-life demonstration of how an explosives-packed belt works.

ISIS is a Sunni group fighting the Shiite-dominated Iraqi government; elements of ISIS also are fighting in Syria against the Assad regime and more moderate rebel groups there.

Fifteen other terrorists-in-training were wounded, according to Iraqi army and police officials.  Eight more who tried to escape were captured.

Terror bombings are becoming increasingly frequent in Iraq.

Similar incidents are not unusual.  In one, a Palestinian terrorist was assembling a bomb on his patio in Gaza as his two daughters played nearby.  It went off accidentally killing all three, and his sponsor, Hamas, swore revenge on the Zionists for the three martyrs.
