Tonight's NYC Jewish Tech Meetup hosted by Daniel Sieradski will be live streamed through ustream.com.

This first Jewish Tech Meetup will be held at Makom Hadash, the premier co-working space for innovative Jewish organizations in NYC. The guest speaker will be the Calyx Institute's Nicholas Merrill, who was the Internet service provider who heroically challenged the National Security Letters provision to the USA PATRIOT Act and spent six years under gag order for refusing to violate his customers' privacy. Merrill was unable to discuss the ordeal with even his own family.

Merrill will discuss Internet privacy, security and social change movements, and why the Jewish community needs to take seriously the threat that government intrusion and secrecy pose to personal freedom.
