Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked a visiting congressional delegation today to try to stop the Palestinian Authority from joining the International Criminal Court and then filing war crimes charges against Israel.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon this urged Syrian President Bashar Assad to take “bold and decisive measures before it’s too late” and called on members of the world body to unite and take “coherent measures” with regard to Syria, the AP reported. The AP reported those were among Ban’s “strongest criticism yet of the Syrian government.”
(JTA) — U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he is concerned over Israel's plans to build hundreds of housing units in eastern Jerusalem.
Ban and Netanyahu met Monday night in New York. The leaders also spoke about efforts to restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, as well as the decision by a United Nations body to refer to Rachel's Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs as mosques.
