Two Holocaust-Themed Films Make The Oscar Cut

Los Angeles — Two films about the Holocaust and its aftermath have made the cut to compete for best foreign-language film. They were selected from among entries from 80 countries vying for Oscar honors, according to an announcement Thursday evening by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Israeli Film Fails to Reach Oscar Semis

LOS ANGELES (JTA) -- Israel’s three-year streak of reaching the list of five finalists in the Oscar race for best foreign language film has ended.

This year’s Israeli contender, “The Human Resources Manager,” was not on the list Wednesday when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its shortlist of nine semifinalists.
